I don’t know about you but, my dog is my life. His name is Winston and I would do anything in my power to make him happy! According to a study by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) a little more than half of homeowners have had pet related renovations done to their home. These renovations can be anything from building a fenced in backyard, to dedicating an entire wing of your house to your fur-child. Let’s take a look at some of the pet friendly renovations you can add to your home renovation project!

Let’s start in the kitchen! Consider adding a pull-out pet bowl drawer. This will keep your kitchen looking tidy and keep you from tripping over your pet bowls!

Pets are tough on floors. It’s the cold hard truth. But you don’t have to choose between having a pet and having stunning flooring! There are plenty of pet friendly flooring options available. Ask your contractor about the following options:

  • Vinyl
  • Rigid Core
  • Engineered Tile
  • Laminate

Bath time! Save money by grooming your pets at home. Create a pet bathing station in your home. Bathing stations can be constructed in a few different areas of your home including but not limited to – the laundry room, the mudroom, or the garage. Check out this bathing station located in a mudroom:

A fenced in yard is one of the most common pet friendly renovations home owners choose. There are several different types of fencing to pick from. Regardless of your choice your four-legged friend is sure to appreciate the room to run around safely! If you choose a fence your dog cannot see through, consider adding a doggy window!
